The Lord's Prayer Part II - Talking to the Father about the Family, Part 4 of 61

TEXT: "In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread" (Matthew 6:9-11).

IDEA: We sometimes take for granted what God in His grace supplies for us.

PURPOSE: To help listeners recognize that it is our Father in Heaven who provides our daily food and we thank Him for it.

I. Have you ever recognized something about your parents in your adult years that you did not appreciate at all when you were growing up?

Why did you miss it as a child?

Is it possible this blindness is also true with the provision from our Father in Heaven?

II. If our Father in Heaven knows we have need of food to sustain us, then why does He want us to ask for it?

Do you think it might be because we are prone to take His provision for granted?

Have there been times in your life when you didn’t have daily provision? What, if anything, did you learn about yourself and our Heavenly Father during that time?

Do you think we are more thankful when, because of circumstances, we are very conscious of our needs being supplied? Why?
