What Jesus Said about Your Money, Part 24 of 31

TEXT: "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much" (Luke 16:10).

IDEA: Money not spent to carry out God’s purposes marks the spender as unfaithful.

PURPOSE: To help listeners think carefully about how to be faithful with money.

When Jesus talks about “what is least” in the context, what is He talking about?

What does it mean to be “faithful”?

I. In the context:

The steward should have cared well for the goods by responsible management. Instead, he “wasted” his master’s goods.

Would there have been a difference between the owner wasting his own goods and the steward wasting his goods?

II. In life:

What does it mean in this context for us to be faithful?

Don’t waste the money that God has given to you.

How might the steward have done that?

How do we do that?

How might we be faithful?

Does our budget reflect our priorities?

What is a budget?

How do you feel about it?

What does a budget accomplish?

In an institution or in a business?

In your own personal life?

You must establish your goals before you can make your budget.

What does it mean for a business to be “unfaithful”?

What does it mean for us to be unfaithful with our money?
